Alec Baldwin Won’t Have As Much Time Get Kicked Off Of Planes For A While
In a move that should surprise no one with a functional brain, NBC announced today that Alec Baldwin would not be taking his leave of 30 Rock following its upcoming sixth season as had long been rumored. Well, not so much rumored as much as it was Baldwin himself telling anyone who would listen that his run with the show was coming to an end. NBC is a mess and 30 Rock is one of the few shows that provides NBC with any type of critical or cultural cache , so there’s no way they were ever going to let Baldwin get away. And although many actors fear being boxed in after playing one role for too long, Baldwin would have been crazy himself to leave the role of a lifetime. And then when taking the show’s audience now being able to continue watching Baldwin on 30 Rock through a potential seventh season? Well, let’s just leave it to the immortal words of the great Michael Scott: “The important difference here is with win/win/win, we all win.”
Of course, they had another one of those with Community until they decided to bat it around like a cat playing with a dead mouse. To NBC’s credit, they did announce today that the show will definitely be returning to the schedule at some point to be determined in 2012, although NBC entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt was much less committal about a potential fourth season. Would have made this its own post but figured I’d spare everyone another Community-centric story. You’re welcome.
