Welcome to the Morning Links. Each weekday, I’ll provide you with some interesting television-related news items culled from the various TV websites I frequent on a regular basis with a slight bit of commentary attached. Pretty straightforward – no fuss, no muss. Here are some links to lead you into the weekend:
*Game Of Thrones season two pictures! Game Of Thrones season two pictures! (Via EW)
*Looks like Kevin Bacon has a co-star in Kevin Williamson’s serial killer pilot for Fox. Mark Antony himself, James Purefoy (Rome) has been cast as the serial killer with whom Bacon’s FBI agent has a unique relationship. Good casting in each of the primary roles and, coupled with Williamson’s involvement, I’m really rooting for this show to end up with a place on Fox’s 2012-13 schedule. (Via TVLine)
*Jim Carrey will be guesting on an upcoming episode of 30 Rock and for some reason he looks like this. Remember when Jim Carrey was the nation’s foremost movie comedian? What the hell was that all about? (Via Warming Glow)
*This is mostly an excuse to link to this video but Hitfix’s Alan Sepinwall has been running a series every Thursday detailing the reasons that he misses NBC’s Community and this week’s installment includes a video interview he did over the summer with series stars Joel McHale, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Jim Rash. Watching the interview, you see just how much fun making Community must be because these are clearly actors who enjoy each others’ company and know their characters inside and out. If you’ve had a bad week and need a laugh, watch the video. I doubt you’ll be disappointed.
*Showtime’s Ray Donovan is shaping up to be an interesting project with yesterday’s news that veteran legends Jon Voight and Elliott Gould have joined star Liev Schreiber in the drama about a “fixer” for the Hollywood elite. The series comes from Southland’s Ann Biderman so there are some quality names attached to this show. Keep an eye out for it if/when it hits Showtime’s schedule. (Via The Hollywood Reporter)
*Weeds’ Justin Kirk has been cast in Animal Kingdom, a sitcom pilot for NBC that’s described by TVLine’s Michael Ausiello as “a House-like veterinarian who loves animals but usually hates their owners.” Look no further, House fans who are in mourning over Wednesday’s news that House is a goner after this year. NBC’s got your back.
*Great (and surprising) little slideshow over at Warming Glow today called “12 Times You’ve Seen Ron Swanson But Had No Idea It Was Ron Swanson.” It’s pretty self explanatory. Oh… and the last picture is definitely NSFW. That is, unless your work allows dong shots.
*Looks like there’s a Portlandia companion book on the way, described as similar to the Parks And Recreation tome, Pawnee: The Greatest Town In America. If it brings attention to one of the better sketch shows currently on the air, then more power to it. (Via The AV Club)
*Puppy Conan. Really. (Via Warming Glow)
